Croatia by Sailing Boat

Croatia by Sailing Boat

Kornati Islands and Dalmatian Islands

If you love the sea, sailing, nights in a deserted bay under a starry sky, mooring in a small fishing harbour, eating fish in a good tavern, making friends with new people without ever getting bored… If you love all this, Croatia by sailing boat is for you!

Over the years, we have hosted many friends who now appreciate the sea and sailing as much as or more than we do.

Participating in the cruise requires no experience, and the crew can contribute to the manoeuvres, including steering.

Choose The Itinerary, We’ll Take Care Of The Rest

Our sailing cruises are mainly divided into two types:

  • Shared boat cruises
  • Exclusive boat cruises

Shared Sailing Boat (Cabin Charter)

The Croatia by Sailing Boat sharing formula allows you to book one or more places on board with other people. The cabin charter allows you to book just one cabin, with the possibility of adding more friends later or having a boat just for yourselves if you wish. The itinerary outline is published for each day, but the skippers will decide with the guests on board the schedule of the days or variations to the itinerary. If available, cabins with private bathrooms can be chosen.

  • Rates for a catamaran holiday are provided upon request and depending on availability.

Exclusive Boat (Charter or Rental or Bareboat)

Here, you can immediately choose the type of sailing boat or catamaran with 2, 3, 4 or 5 double guest cabins from a selection of vessels of different years (including newly launched models) and in different marinas of embarkation with a skipper chosen by us or in the bareboat formula without a skipper.

Reductions on rates are possible for families under 30. Ask for more information without obligation from our operators.

Our Itineraries For Sailing Holidays in Croatia

For Croatia by sailing boat, we offer two itineraries:

Kornati Islands National Park with Embarkation in Zadar

The Kornati Islands National Park is one of the most beautiful and jagged archipelagos in the Mediterranean, a unique network of 150 islands, islets and rocks, scattered in the central part of the Adriatic. Thanks to the clarity of the sea, whose intense blue colour is given above all by the contrast with the white-grey stone of the islands, and thanks to the abundance of sun, the countless bays, gulfs and small ports, the Kornati Park represents a mandatory destination for sailors.

The Kornati Islands Sailing Cruise is an itinerary with a typical route that may undergo slight variations to be agreed with the skipper:

  • Saturday: Zadar
    • Check-in (boarding time) starts from 4 pm. The sailing boat usually departs on Sunday morning, but it will be possible to leave earlier depending on the arrival of guests and/or the early check-in booking (for exclusive boats)
  • Sunday: Zadar > Telascica
    • We set sail in the morning towards Dugi Otok (Long Island), the largest island in the Zadar archipelago, with an area of 114 km2 and a coastline of 180 km. Before arriving in the southwestern part of the island, where we will spend the first night in the splendid bay of Telascica, we will cross some bays near Sali, a delightful fishing village.
  • Monday: Telascica > Kornati
    • Heading south: we will visit the entire Kornati National Park and spend the night in one of the numerous bays, enjoying dinner at sunset.
  • Tuesday: Kornati > Zakan
    • We will continue in the Kornati archipelago, visiting the most beautiful areas, uninhabited small bays, and some seasonal fishermen’s houses transformed into taverns where we will dine on dentex, sea bream and lobsters cooked on the grill. We will spend the night in Zakan Bay.
  • Wednesday: Zakan > Skradin
    • We will leave early in the direction of Sibenik and then sail up the Krka River until we reach the picturesque town of Skradin. The Krka River has created a canyon of breathtaking beauty in its journey through the karst areas from Dinara to the sea.
  • Thursday: Skradin > Pasman
    • We will sail up the Krka River with the Park ferry to the waterfalls for a swim. In the afternoon, we sail towards the island of Pasman, where we will moor late at night. This oasis of peace and silence represents an ideal refuge for all those who would like to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We will visit Uvala Zicena and Landin.
  • Friday: Pasman > Zadar
    • The last day of navigation is dedicated to the island of Rava, where, in the early afternoon, we will visit the delightful fishing village of Mala Rava. In the evening, we will return to Zadar.

Dalmatian Islands with Embarkation in Split

Dalmatia boasts an ancient tradition of 1700 years! It was, in fact, the year 305 when the Roman emperor Diocletian chose the area of central Dalmatia to have his residence built. The then imperial palace is today the historic centre of Split – the second largest Croatian city – eternally young, with a dynamic and joyful tourist centre, which is also the economic centre of the entire region. The city is surrounded by the splendid and famous Dalmatian Islands that can be visited with this sailing cruise.

Detailed map of sailing cruise itineraries in Southern Dalmatia, Croatia - Croatia by Sailing Boat with Skipper Armatori

For Dalmatia by Sailing Boat, we propose an itinerary with five stops along a typical route that may undergo small variations by mutual agreement with the skipper:

  • Saturday: Split
    • Check-in (boarding time) starts from 4 pm. The sailing boat usually departs on Sunday morning, but it will be possible to leave earlier depending on the arrival of guests and/or the early check-in booking (for exclusive boats)
  • Sunday: Split > Brac
    • We will set sail in the morning towards the Island of Brac, a village of winegrowers, fishermen and sailors and today a well-known summer destination for those seeking beaches with aromatic pine forests and lavender. We will sleep in the bay after swimming in the most beautiful and fragrant coves in front of Split.
  • Monday: Brac > Hvar
    • We will direct the bow towards the Pakleni islands (infernal). We will swim at Palmizana Beach before reaching the town of Hvar. This location is famous since ancient times as an important Venetian maritime centre. Those who wish can go ashore and visit the cathedral, the theatre, the arsenal and the loggia of the charming town.
  • Tuesday: Hvar > Scedro
    • We will sail towards the islet of Scedro, a natural park that, with its unspoiled beauty, rich in hidden inlets, will offer us a unique anchoring experience. Since ancient times, the bays of Scedro have been known for their sheltered beaches, and some of the most famous naval battles have taken place here, such as the one between Caesar and Pompey (49 BC).
  • Wednesday: Scedro > Vis
    • We will head towards Vis, the first city in the eastern Adriatic to be colonised by the Greeks. Lunch and a refreshing swim in the turquoise water of the island of Bisevo. We will visit the well-known blue cave strictly at noon to see the sun’s rays illuminating it, creating a unique atmosphere. We will then continue towards the west side of Vis, where we will spend the night in the bay of Komiza.
  • Thursday: Vis > Hvar
    • Upon awakening, it will be time to set sail towards Vis. Here, we will refill the water and then continue towards the bay of Mlaki Rat on the northwest side of the island of Hvar. It’s an ideal place to relax between dips. We will drop anchor right here, in the bay of Mlaki Rat, to spend the night.
  • Friday: Hvar > Solta > Split
    • On the last day, we will sail towards the island of Solta. An island known for its stunning pebble beaches, surrounded by a crystal-clear sea. It is a paradise for snorkelling enthusiasts thanks to the excellent visibility of gorgonians, black corals, octopuses, lobsters, moray eels and seahorses. The return to Split is scheduled for the evening.

Istrian Islands with Embarkation in Zadar

Istria is a large sailing area, little known to most and still occasionally frequented today. The embarkation marinas start from Pula and the nearby Pomer and Medulin, continue east/south-east from that of Punat on the island of Krk; Mali Lošinj, on the homonymous island, and include the numerous small ports of Zadar from which you can sail northwards.

Map of itineraries for the Istria cruise with the main destinations of the route - Croatia by Sailing Boat with Skipper Armatori

  • Saturday: Zadar
    • Check-in (boarding time) starts from 4 pm. The sailing boat usually departs on Sunday morning, but it will be possible to leave earlier depending on the arrival of guests and/or the early check-in booking (for exclusive boats)
  • Sunday: Molat
    • On Sunday morning, we will set sail towards Molat, also known as “Island of Butterflies”, for the large number of varieties that flutter in every part of the island. You can discover the natural beauty of Molat on paths bordered by Mediterranean scrub. Or, aboard the sailing boat, search for inlets, hidden bays and the seabed coloured by corals, starfish, silvery fish and shells.
  • Monday: Ist
    • Subsequently, we will sail towards Ist, an island divided into two parts connected by a narrow isthmus. It is a truly suggestive landscape to experience first-hand. The sailing boat will allow you to visit the island from one side to another, appreciating its bays, seabeds, beaches, and the omnipresent quiet and calm.
  • Tuesday: Skarda
    • Uninhabited and wild island. We will visit the island, stopping at its three small landings. All three are rarely frequented and allow you to enjoy moments of true relaxation and get in tune with the rhythm of nature.
  • Wednesday: Olib
    • Rich in isolated bays, allowing you to sail with a unique feeling of privacy. The island of Olib is also famous for the Slatinica beach of very fine white sand with shallow and sandy seabed.
  • Thursday: Silba > Premuda
    • Also called “Island of Pedestrians“. Silba is an island devoid of cars, where life follows a relaxed, old-fashioned rhythm. You can decide to walk in the woods that cover the island, sail in search of isolated beaches, or bathe on the most famous beach of Šotorišce, in front of the only village on the island. Subsequently, we will visit the tiny island of Premuda, a single inhabited village that makes olive oil a product of excellence. Its sea hides a submerged and secret world: a maze of caverns and tunnels called “Cathedral” and the wreck of an Austro-Hungarian vessel from the First World War.
  • Friday: Lošinj > Rab > Krk
    • The last day of navigation discovering Istria is dedicated to the islands of Lošinj, Rab and Krk. We will land at Lošinj from the small port of Mali Lošinj. Immersed in the green of maritime pines, you can search for an oasis of rich and omnipresent nature that will give you more than one reason to fall in love with it. The island is entirely covered by a lush forest of myrtles, holm oaks and junipers that mix with the scents of aromatic plants, citrus fruits and exotic plants such as agaves and prickly pears. Finally, we will visit the island of Rab, defined by the Romans as The happy island for its timeless beauty and the variety of naturalistic landscapes it hosts. From the paved streets of the medieval village of Rab rise four bell towers of different heights and colours that look out to the open sea. The view that will open to your gaze from the bell tower of Santa Maria will be like a romantic walk on the red roofs of Rab, offering you a boundless view against a background divided between sky and sea.
